Team India, recently, found themselves in a storm of unwanted polemic when five of the “Men in Blue” team members were accused of breaching Australia’s COVID-19 protocol. India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma along with Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Navdeep Saini, and Shubman Gill was seen eating in an indoor restaurant in Melbourne, which goes against the bio-bubble rules set by Cricket Australia. Adding to that, the following cricketers met and apparently hugged an Indian fan at the restaurant which created all the headlines in the world of cricket.

Nevertheless, BCCI confirmed that all the members of the Indian national team have been tested negative for COVID-19. “Playing members of the Indian Cricket Team and support staff underwent an RT-PCR Test for Covid-19 on January 3, 2021. All tests have returned negative results,” the BCCI said.
Team India, who already served a 14-day mandatory quarantine period when they landed in Australia, were reportedly resisting to travel to Brisbane for the fourth Test considering the strict isolation rules over there. A member of the Queensland government, while addressing the above mention rumors, stated “If the Indians don’t want to play by the rules, don’t come.”

“Have you ever had any dealings with the BCCI?- Andrew Symonds
Recently, former Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds also commented about the on-going controversy related to the Indians. Symonds claimed that BCCI won’t stoop in front of Cricket Australia as they have an upper hand over others in the cricketing world “Have you ever had any dealings with the BCCI? They seem to have a fair bit of power over people. It comes down to probably what the Queensland government’s going to allow them to do … But I can’t see India not getting their way, to be honest with you,” Symonds told Fox Cricket.

India clinched a dominating win in the second Test at Melbourne to go level with the Australians in the on-going “Border Gavaskar” series. The Indians will next face the Baggy Greens at Sydney on January 7, 2021.
