On Saturday, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly extended a helping hand to ISKCON’s Kolkata center enabling them to feed 20,000 people every day affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Kolkata ISKCON used to feed 10,000 people a day, before that.
The former India captain visited the ISKCON city center wearing all protective equipment such as masks and gloves and offered assistance.
“We were cooking food for 10,000 people per day from ISKCON Kolkata. Our dear Sourav Da has come forward and extended all of his support and donated, allowing us to double our capacity to 20,000 people every day, “said ISKCON’s spokesperson Radharaman Das and vice president, Kolkata center.
Ganguly had previously donated 20,000 kilograms of rice at the Ramkrishna Mission headquarters in Belur Math.”As we all know, the corona crisis posed unparalleled challenges for mankind. Many who have lost their daily earnings are fighting one of the most important battles in this hour of crisis.”Under his captaincy, ISKCON Kolkata’s monks are excited about playing this long test match and battling together in the war against hunger for many families here in Kolkata.
“I’m a huge fan of Dada and watched several of his innings on the cricket ground. Yet his innings of feeding ten thousand people daily seem to be the greatest. ISKCON expresses its tremendous gratitude to Ganguly”, Das added. ISKCON distributes food to four lakh people every day in the world.
Matches Postponed Amidst Coronavirus Pandemic:
Cricket boards have postponed national, international and domestic cricket leagues amidst the spread of coronavirus scare. The most awaited 13th edition of IPL 2020 was also pushed to 15th April, and the new dates are yet to be announced by the BCCI.
In a recent media statement, BCCI Chief Sourav Ganguly said, if all the tournament would take place it would be a truncated affair. As if now, the BCCI is looking for October – November window to conduct IPL 2020 tournament.
