A member of the Melbourne Stars coaching team screened positive for COVID. All players were also taken to RT PCR testing. This game has been postponed for a future date. In addition, Pakistan bowler Haris Rauf was set to play for the Melbourne Stars in this match.

The Big Bash League (BBL) General Manager, Alastair Dobson, stated that the organizers had no choice but to postpone the match between the Melbourne Stars and the Perth Scorchers. Dobson continued by emphasizing that the decision was made with the players’ safety in mind.

“While regrettable, the decision to postpone tonight’s match was the only option available given the exposures within the Stars cohort. The league has a number of biosecurity protocols in place to keep our participants safe and the competition moving forward,” said Dobson.

The Perth Scorchers have been relentless in the ongoing BBL. The Scorchers have won six of their seven matches in the competition, putting them in 2nd place in the points standings.

Perth Scorchers were defeated by the Sydney Thunder by 34 runs in their last match. The Melbourne Stars, on the other side, are ranked sixth in the rankings after winning three of their six matches. The Melbourne Stars defeated the Brisbane Heat by 20 runs in their last matchup.
