BBL 2020: CA Imposes Ban On Haircuts For Big Bash Players While Following COVID-19 Norms

Cricket Australia has inflicted a ban on haircuts for the Big Bash players following the latest Covid-19 norms. The new strain of coronavirus has hit the shores of Sydney as well and the Australian government is tightening the rules to avoid the spread of the newly-found diseases.

BBL 2020: CA implies new COVID-19 protocols

In the wake of the new COVID-19 protocols, the CA has asked the BBL players to avoid going out for haircuts in order to avoid contact with the lethal virus.

“The governing body has also increased restrictions for BBL players, conscious of walking the tightrope that is playing a full domestic and international summer while dealing with the challenges of COVID-19 and in particular the recent NSW outbreak which has imperiled Sydney’s hopes of hosting the third Test as planned,” the report read, reported by Hindustan Times.

On December 21, a document released by CA Queensland stated that personal appointments like haircuts are temporarily being banned. CA has also banned the players from eating outdoors. “This contrasts with an earlier version of the protocols from December 1, when such appointments were permitted provided that face masks be worn when inside,” it stated. “Players and staff can still pick up take away food if it is pre-ordered but they must not wear their team uniform when doing so,” the report added.

IND vs AUS: Warner, Abbott dicey for the second Test

Another report claimed that CA has also prohibited David Warner and Sean Abbott from joining their Australian teammates ahead of the Boxing Day Test against India which is scheduled to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26. The duo was restricted from joining the Australian squad to not jeopardize the on-going “Border Gavaskar” series.
Australia currently have a 1-0 lead over the “Men in Blue” in the ongoing four-match Test series between the heavyweights of international cricket. India will enter the second Test without the likes of skipper Virat Kohli and pacer Mohammad Shami in their squad. The Australians will be looking forward to cementing the series with a win in the second Test as well. The Ajinkya Rahane-led Indian side has a point to prove and they will seemingly be cautious against the mighty Australians this time around.
