Bangladesh Cricket Board Gets Government Clearance For T20Is n Pakistan

Nazmul Hasan, the president of Bangladesh Cricket Board, said on Sunday that in their upcoming tour, they are willing to play only three T20 Internationals against Pakistan as the government is not inclined to provide any security clearance for a long period due to the current unrest in the Middle-East.

Bangladesh Cricket Board cleared their stand after Nazmul conducted a four-hour long meeting at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in which they talked about several things. But most time was dedicated to taking a final decision for their upcoming tour to Pakistan.

The BCB president informed that they had already communicated the decision about their stance verbally to their Pakistani counterparts and soon will send an official letter regarding this.

Recently, PCB offered BCB to play a two-match Test series first and later a three-match T20 series at an appropriate time ahead of the next T20 World Cup. Preceding that, PCB stated that they were unwilling to host their home series anywhere else, after BCB’s proposal to split the series as they didn’t want their players to stay for a longer period in Pakistan.

The BCB boss insisted that they were anxious about the situation in the Middle East which rules out the possibility of Bangladesh playing a Test series in the UAE soon which they were ready to do earlier.

Taking into account the recent situation in the Middle East, the Bangladesh team can only have a short trip to Pakistan, and thus will play only three T20 matches during their first visit to Pakistan, Nazmul told the reporters at the BCB premises. Bangladesh team will play the Test series with Pakistan some other time when the situation is defused in the Middle East.

It was a difficult decision on their part to tour Pakistan, considering all circumstances. But they have decided to go there only to prove that Bangladesh team wanted to resume international cricket in Pakistan, added Nazmul.

The BCB president is going to Dubai to talk with the ICC president Shashank Manohar as the latter invited him.
