BAN vs AUS: Riley Meredith Out Of T20I Series Due To Injury

Cricket Australia (CA) stated on Monday that Riley Meredith (fast bowler) has been forced out of the five-match T20I series versus Bangladesh. This may be a huge setback for Australia at an important moment. Meredith made his international debut against the West Indies in a T20I series, taking  4-wickets in 2-overs but allowing runs at a rate of 13.40 in 7.5 overs. Lets look at Why Riley Meredith Is Out Of BAN vs AUS T20I Series.

Why Riley Meredith Is Out Of BAN vs AUS T20I Series

Despite current captain Aaron Finch being previously ruled out due to a knee injury, Meredith’s setback comes at an unexpected time for the Men in Yellow, who were hoping to utilize the forthcoming matches as a warm-up for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, which will be contested in October.

Due to the absence of the right-arm pacer, Australia has recruited fast bowler Nathan Ellis to the national team. Last season, the 26-year-old surprised everyone in the Big Bash League (BBL) by taking 20 wickets in just 14 matches for the Hobart Hurricanes.

Matthew Wade will be keen to put pressure on Bangladesh

With approximately 7-players currently missing for Australia owing to a variety of personal concerns, the T20I series versus Bangladesh gives an opportunity for the remaining reserve players to shine.

The initial T20I will take place on 3rd August in Dhaka, with the final on 9th August.  According to COVID-19 standards and procedures, all of the matches will be held in Dhaka.

Matthew Wade, a wicketkeeper-batter, is expected to succeed Finch as captain. The lefty has a lot of experience managing domestic teams in Australia, so he’s no stranger to the role of captain. Due to the absence of Pat Cummins, David Warner, Marcus Stoinis, and Jhye Richardson, Wade will bank on these 5 games to put up a dominant performance and secure the first spot in the T20 World Cup.

Wade is now in excellent form this season, offering the club strong offensive beginnings. With the added duty, he will be keen to put pressure on Bangladesh, which is often regarded as a dangerous side, particularly at home.

The Australians are playing their final international series ahead of the T20 World Cup. The Men in Yellow want to redeem their earlier series loss against the West Indies.
