Australian Pat Cummins Gives More Preference to World Cup Than IPL

Cummins Say 2015 World Cup Was His Career Highlight

Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins, the most expensive foreign player (15.50 crore rupees) in IPL  has revealed that he would like to see the T20 world cup happen, than any other tournament including the lucrative Indian Premier League.

The outbreak of the corona virus has thrown the world of sports into disarray. All the cricket events have been canceled or postponed and the players are having rest in their homes.

As the cricket events are facing uncertainty due to the pandemic, the Australian speedster expressed that he would love the World Cup to go ahead.

He said,” The T20 World Cup is something we’ve spoken about for the best part of two or three years. The (ODI) World Cup in 2015, that was absolutely a career highlight for me and I wasn’t even playing in the final. I’d love to see that go ahead.”

The 26-year-old spoke to Austrian Associated Press. He also hoped for the IPL to happen if possible.

He added,” That’s probably the big tournament this year for international cricket … I’d love for that to happen in perfect time and if I was to be really greedy, I’d love for the IPL to happen as well.”

Organizers Hope World Cup Will Happen As Planned

IPL has been postponed from March 29th to April 15th in the wake of the corona health crisis. There has not been any official statement regarding the staging of the cash-rich tournament after the postponement.

However, the cases of corona are still on the rise and it is highly doubtful if the IPL would be held anytime soon.

Moreover, India is under 21-day lockdown which the central government ordered in-order to check the spread of the deadly virus. It is supposed to end on April 14th but there is a possibility of extending it for few more days.

But the World Cup is expected to go ahead as planned in October and November.
