Australia vs West Indies, 2nd Test: Right-arm fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, on Friday, became the leading wicket-taker in international cricket in 2022 after he surpassed Sandeep Lamichhane.

Alzarri Joseph, a fast bowler, broke the record for most wickets in an international cricket match on Friday, December 9. The feat was accomplished by the speedster at the Adelaide Oval during the second Test match between Australia and West Indies.

Joseph has taken 65 wickets in 33 games prior to the Day Night Test in Adelaide. At the conclusion of play on Day 1, the pacer had 66 wickets from 32 games in 2022, matching Nepalese leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane.

After he castled right-handed batter Cameron Green on Day 2, Joseph rose to the top of the standings. After hitting nine runs off of 42 balls, the Australian hitter was out, and Australia lost their sixth wicket in the 123rd over with 452 runs already scored.

Joseph has taken 27 wickets at a 4.61 economy rate in 17 ODIs in 2022. The first Test at Perth Stadium wasn’t exactly fun for the seamer. He didn’t get a single wicket in the fourth innings despite scoring 43 valuable runs.

West Indies ultimately lost the game by 164 runs and lost the series 0-1 as a result. With his ferocious pace, Joseph was able to make apologies in the second Test.

Since his 2016 debut, Joseph has been a valuable member of the West Indies bowling team, particularly in Tests and ODIs.

Joseph has played in 10 T20Is for the Caribbean side, taking 16 wickets at an economy rate of 7.47 and recording one four-wicket haul.

Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne had earlier contributed 175 and 163 points. The teams playing good cricket making the format more interesting.
