The 1st Test match between Australia and Pakistan, which is being held at Gabba, Brisbane, saw Australia posting 312 for the loss of one wicket in 87 overs. Pakistan had earlier scored 240 runs in 86.2 overs for the loss of 10 wickets. Australia now leads with 72 runs.
Australian star David Warner played a major role in the match by scoring 151 runs in 265 balls. Warner got to his 22nd test ton and fourth against Pakistan. On the other hand, Joe Burns unluckily lost his wicket when he was on 97.
Commenting about the torrid time he had with the bat during the Ashes series, Warner claims he never lost faith in his ability. “I don’t feel under pressure at all,” he said after posting his 22nd Test century. “For me, it’s about going out there and backing my ability.”
He added, “If you get selected or don’t get selected you’ve got to accept that. The Ashes for me was a failure but I know what I’m capable of doing. I was at the end of a great series by a very good bowler. There was nothing more I could do. I wasn’t out of form, I was out of runs. Today I had a little bit of luck. That’s what you need in the game. Over there I didn’t have much luck at all.”
