‘Wonder How Many Restaurants Imran Khan Has Got Kicked Out Of?’ Australian Commentators Tease His Namesake

After Australia and Pakistan started playing the first Test at Gabba, the men in green were given a tough time by the hosts.

On day one, Pakistan had won the toss and chose to bat first.  Only Asad Shafiq managed to score a half-century with 76 runs in 134 balls. He got bowled by the Cummins.

Australian bowlers Mitchell Starc and Cummins took 4 and 3 wickets, respectively. In  Australia’s first innings David warner who opened batting scored 151(not out) in 256 balls. Joe Burns missed his century by 3 runs when he got bowled by Naseem Shah. Marnus Labuschagne who came to bat at one drop had scored 55(not out) in 94 balls.

There was a funny moment in the live coverage when no.11 Pakistan player who came to bat at the fall of the ninth wicket.  At that time, on-air commentators included veteran broadcaster Kerry O’ Keeffe.

O’ Keeffe’s comment was: “I wonder how many restaurants Imran Khan has got kicked out of in Pakistan… He probably makes a booking in the name of Imran Khan and when he shows up, the staff says, ‘You are not Imran Khan!'”
