Assam Cricket Association Gives Stadium For Quarantine Purpose

“Assam Cricket Association Will Support The Government in Every Possible Way”

The Assam Cricket Association has come forward to give its Barsapara Stadium premises to be used as a quarantine center as the state government is getting ready to combat the coronavirus outbreak.

Though there are no cases of the disease in the Assam, the state government is in no mood to relax. It has asked its people to follow the 21-day lock-down suggested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Assam Cricket Association Secretary Devajit Saikia stated,” “Because of the emergent situation arising due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19 pandemic), Assam Cricket Association president Roman Dutta and secretary Devajit Saikia, on behalf of the state body, has decided to offer the Barsapara Stadium and its premises to Government of Assam for establishing temporary hospital and quarantine center.”

He added,” ACA will provide every possible support to the state government to fight the new coronavirus outbreak during this critical juncture.”

CAB Offers Eden Gardens Indoor Facility As Quarantine

Similarly, BCCI President and former president of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Sourav Ganguly has offered Eden Gardens’ indoor facility and players’ dormitory to the West Bengal government to create a temporary medical facility to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ganguly said, “If the government asks us, we will certainly hand over the facility. Anything that is need of the hour, we will do it. There is no problem.”

CAB office-bearers have collected 4 lakh rupees for West Bengal Emergency Relief Fund to stop the spread of the virus.

CAB president Avishek Dalmiya had on Wednesday donated Rs 5 lakh, while the association gave away Rs 25 lakh towards the COVID-19 pandemic aid.

The cricket body’s secretary Snehashis Ganguly, who is the brother of Sourav Ganguly, vice-president Naresh Ojha, joint-secretary Debabrata Das and its affiliated unit South Suburban Club contributed Rs 1 lakh each.
