Jasprit Bumrah, who is suffering from an injury can make a comeback soon, as he was named in the Indian squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka and the ODI series against Australia.
Since India’s West Indies tour in August this year, the paceman has been out of practice s he is recovering from a back injury.
At the time of Sri Lanka tour in 2017, Bumrah took the most wickets (15) for any fast bowler during a bilateral ODI series. Usually, people remember him for bowling a no-ball in the final of a Champions Trophy of 2017 which had resulted in a wicket.
Team Management Needs Bumrah To Recover Completely
Now, the Indian team management needs Jasprit Bumrah to fully recover as the team has a busy calendar in 2020, which includes the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
The national selectors instructed the management of the Gujarat team to bowl the paceman for only 4 to 8 overs a day, a report says. For the Gujarat team, this was not appropriate and so Ganguly stepped in to allow Bumrah to continue his break.
“There’s much time for the Test series in New Zealand. The first Test begins on February 21 next year. Until then, he doesn’t play any red-ball cricket. So there was no hurry. He can start with bowling four overs in a T20 game for now and play a Ranji Trophy match possibly closer to when it’s time to fly to New Zealand,” a source quoted Ganguly as saying.
Bumrah was this year’s standout bowler for India, playing across formats at his peak. As India looks to win its first ICC tournament since 2011, he is expected to be a key figure.
