Ajinkye Rahane Gives Rs 10 Lakhs For Corona Cause

“It Is Just A Tiny Drop In The Ocean”

Many cricketers and celebrities have responded kindly to the government’s call for fight against the corona pandemic by donating money.

Similarly, Test specialist batsman Ajinkye Rahane has also contributed 10 lakh rupees to help the government overcome the ongoing health crisis.

He gave the amount to the Maharashtra Chief Minister‘s Relief Fund, which is aimed at battling the Covid-19 pandemic.

This was confirmed to PTI on Sunday by a source close to the middle-order batsman, who joins the list of sportspersons who have joined hands with the government by contributing towards the fight against the pandemic.

Maharashtra is the worst-hit state by the dangerous virus, which has reported 203 positive cases until now the highest in any nation.

Rahane, who is the vice-captain of the Indian Test team, stated on his Twitter that his help was just a drop of water in the ocean.

He tweeted, “This is just my tiny bit and a drop in the ocean. I will do my best to support in this difficult time. Meanwhile, stay home stay safe.”

He also urged people to refrain from panic buying in one of his previous tweets. In another post, he saluted the police for their service round the clock during the outbreak.

Cricketers and other celebrities have been at the forefront of educating people about how to deal with the corona pandemic.

Meanwhile, Rahane’s Indian teammate Suresh Raina has also pledged to donate Rs 51 lakhs while BCCI has decided to give a whopping Rs 51 crores for the cause.

Some of the other cricketers who made donations were cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar (50 Lakhs) and Sourav Ganguly, who distributed 50 lakh rupees worth rice to the underprivileged who are taking shelter in government relief centers in his state West Bengal.
