Afghanistan Set To Play Against Australia In December

Afghanistan plays its first-ever Test against Australia:

Later this year, Afghanistan is likely to play against Australia their first-ever Test match. The one-off Test is scheduled to be held from 9th December to 11th December in Perth.

As per the report, both Afghanistan Cricket Board and Cricket Australia are in a good stage of discussions before finalizing the fixture for the one-off Test match.

As per the Future Tours Programme of ICC, Australia was meant to organize the match in November against Afghanistan, just after the now deferred men’s T20 World Cup.

However, because of the coronavirus pandemic, a few bilateral engagements have had adjusted their dates.

The one-off Test match will not be included in the World Test Championship of ICC, as the competition is limited to the leading nine sides and doesn’t involve Ireland, Zimbabwe, and Afghanistan.

The Test match between Afghanistan and Australia will be the fifth match in the Test format after the nation got Full-Member recognization in 2017.
