The Women’s Hundred: Oval Invincibles secured their place in the knockout stages

Oval Invincibles with the impressive win over London Spirit secure their place in the knockout stages for the women’s Hundred league.

Mady Villiers was the star lady behind the impressive win, as Mady first dismissed both opening batsmen and put pressure on the incoming batters. The London Spirits were 4 for 3 just after 11 deliveries, S Ismail and Eva Gray picked up two wickets each to puncture the batting line-up of London Spirits.

Amazing bowling performance helped the Ovals side to restrict the London side for 80 runs from 97 balls.

In reply, the Ovals came on to bat full of confidence, and both opening batsmen gave a good start, where they almost finished the job but Bates fell prey to Grace Scrivens after scoring 31 runs from 20 balls with a strike rate of 155, on the other hand, Winfield-Hill scored 44 runs from 28 balls with a strike rate 157.14.

London Spirit bowlers were unable to stop the flow of runs from the Ovals batters as both the Oval openers took smashed runs all over the ground.

The Ovals side chased down the target in just 58 balls and clamming the victory by 9 wickets. This impressive performance grants the Ovals side a position in the playoffs of the women’s Hundred League.

The Ovals have registered their fourth win in the tournament, whereas the London Spirit have only won one match in their five matches. This Victory pushed the Ovals side to the second spot having lost only one match in five games.

London Spirit has recorded the second lowest score in the Hundred campaign. Maddy Villiers was certainly the key player for this match and she showed her class by dismissing the Openers at the start and picking up two more wickets in the latter half. The Star lady Maddy bowled an amazing spell where she managed to pick up 4 wickets in 20 balls.

After winning the player of the match award when asked about her performance Maddy Villiers said that “I’ve probably been a bit too inconsistent, if I’m being honest, in the last couple of games, so just wanted to keep every mode of dismissal in play and, yeah, it worked out well.

“Changes of pace were going to be key on a pitch like that. It looked like a belter, to be honest, and I just wanted to bowl my best ball and it worked out.
