TBZ VS VLC Match Summary – 2nd Innings 20 Overs Update
The last league match of the Women’s T20 Challenge kept us all excited. Velocity and Trailblazer locked horns to confirm their place in the finals. It was a tougher task for Trailblazer to qualify as their net run rate was extremely low, they had to make sure to win the game by a big margin. Even after a very good attempt with the bat and winning the match by 16 runs, the team failed to qualify. Velocity will meet Supernova in the finals to be played on the 28th of May.
The trailblazer put a very good total for Velocity and it looked like they might pull off something miraculous but Velocity had other plans. They only had to play to not lose by a big margin and early hitting and consistent high run rate ensured that they don’t give any chance to Trailblazer to try and steal the game from them. While Velocity had a blizzarding start, they did lose early wickets. That did not change the pace of their innings as they went on to score 68 runs in the first 6 overs. Wolvardt and Navgire formed a crucial partnership of 55 runs. The latter batter played an important knock and kept her wicket safe while scoring 69 runs in just 34 balls at the strike rate of 203. They came real close to the target but failed to achieve it.
The Trailblazer looked like a baffled fielding side where the bowlers just couldn’t contain Velocity batters. Almost all of them were hit for big runs and that forced them out of the tournament. They must be disappointed but they should also be proud of the effort and the fact that they scored the highest ever Women’s T20 Challenge score.
As for Velocity, they should work on their mistakes and try improving especially their fielding that looked out of place today. The team will meet Supernova for the finals of the league on the 28th at the MCA. It is going to be another thrilling contest and we are all in for it!
