Ranji Trophy finals: Prithvi Shaw says he is proud to be Mumbai skipper and hopes to bring the trophy home

Right before Ranji trophy finals in 2022 against Madhya Pradesh, Mumbai skipper Prithvi Shaw has expressed his feeling toward his team. He said that taking his team to the match as a captain is a matter of pride for him. He is hoping to take the trophy home.

Mumbai is a 41-time champion. They have reached their 47th Ranji Trophy final game. The team is attempting to win a record-breaking 42nd championship. Their semi-final match against Uttar Pradesh ended up in a draw and it led Mumbai to advance on a first-inning lead.

“It is proud to be the Mumbai team skipper. Leading the team during the Vijay Hazare trophy and now during Ranji. This is a proud moment for me. I am hoping that we take the trophy back home.” said Prithvi Shaw in a pre-match conference.

He also added that playing opposite Chandrakant Pandit would be a tough challenge. Chandrakant Pandit is the former head coach of the Mumbai team. He is now leading the Madhya Pradesh team to their Ranji trophy finals game of 2022 as a coach.

“Chandu sir has done well for MP too, they have managed to arrive in the finals after so many years. So, congratulations to them,” added Shaw.

Mumbai captain Prithvi Shaw discussed the value of huge runs prior to the summit match. Shaw related a story in an effort to emphasize the significance. Shaw said that after scoring fifty, nobody gave him congrats.

“I have a few (three) the 50s, but that’s not enough for me, for sure, and no one even applauded me after scoring a 50, which makes you feel horrible as well (jokingly). Even if it occasionally happens, I’m happy with how my team is performing. I have to consider all 21 of the guys I have here as a captain and not just myself,” Shaw told reporters.

Shaw said that he has come to terms with the fact that a sportsperson’s life is full of ups and downs.

“Winning the Cup is my major goal, and I’m not thinking about anything else right now.” We should concentrate on the Ranji Trophy preparations we have made rather than other events. It’s about reclaiming those joyous moments and winning the Ranji Trophy,” he said.
