IPL 2022: ‘We Will Miss Him Dearly’, Jos Buttler Recalls Shane Warne

After guiding the Rajasthan Royals (RR) to reach the final of the Indian Premier League in 2022, the opening batsman for the RR, Jos Buttler Recalls Shane Warne, took into account and remember the greatness of Shane Warne. Buttler believes that Warne will be watching down from heaven onto RR with a great deal of pleasure now that the team has progressed to an IPL final for just the 2nd time in its existence.

With a dominating 7-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RR), Rajasthan solidified their position as the team make it into the final of the IPL 2022. After ensuring qualifying for his side, the outstanding hitter Jos Buttler reflected on the first Royal – Shane Warne, who had led the team to its inaugural Indian T20 League final in 2008. And now, this achievement had been accomplished under Buttler’s guidance.

The Royals have indeed been honoring Warne for almost the entirety of the IPL 2022 tournament. The Australian, who had passed away just a few weeks before, was the first and only skipper in the history of the franchise to lead them to victory in the IPL.

Shane Warne is an influential figure for the Rajasthan Royals: Buttler

“I just enjoyed today so much. To be able to get the opportunity to go and play in the final of the biggest T20 tournament in the world is incredibly exciting. Shane Warne is such an influential figure for the Rajasthan Royals and having led the team to success in the first season, we will miss him dearly, but we know he is looking down on us with a lot of pride today”, said Buttler at the post-match presentation.

Jos Buttler has been producing exceptionally well throughout this season. His fourth hundred of the campaign came in the recent match versus RCB, in Qualifier 2, when he scored 106 runs. The Englishman has racked up an impressive total of 824 runs and has an avg of 58.85 during his career.

Buttler, when asked about his individual ability in the game, remarked that he had relatively modest aspirations for himself, but his concentration levels have stayed strong from the beginning of the play.

“I came into the season with very low expectations, but with a lot of energy and excitement and to be stood here now and have the season I had with such a great team and get us into the finals is incredibly exciting. I had a tournament of two halves. I had some really honest conversations with some close people around me, Kumar Sangakkara and Trevor Penney”, he added.

Buttler is having the kind of season that no other foreign player has ever had in the history of the league prior. He does have four tonnes and four half-centuries under his belt.
