SRH vs MI Match Highlights: Tripathi, Malik Keep SRH’s Playoff Hopes Alive

SRH vs MI Match Highlights: Sunrisers Hyderabad squared off against Mumbai Indians in the 65th match of the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The second half of the chase featured a diverse mix of twists and turns, but in the end, Sunrisers Hyderabad emerged victorious to avoid their run of five consecutive defeats. SRH kept their hopes into playoffs alive with a victory against MI by a margin of 3 runs. Here we can see the SRH vs MI Match Highlights

Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Wankhede, SRH got off to a poor start after they lost their opener Abhishek Sharma 9 (10), who was removed by Daniel Sams.  However, the following batsmen Priyam Garg and Rahul Tripathi made a promising start and carried the momentum with a brilliant knock. Together with added 78 runs to the total for the second wicket. After MI brought Ramandeep Singh into the attack, the vital partnership was finally broken when Priyam Garg was dismissed for 42 runs off 26 balls.

Then, Rahul Tripathi and Nicholas Pooran carried up the momentum in an effort to clinch a position in the playoffs that is under scrutiny. The two players worked together to form an important partnership of 76 runs. Riley Meredith, the right-arm pacer for MI, made a further breakthrough as SRH lost Pooran at 38(22). After the dismissal of the wicket, SRH also lost well-settled batter Tripathi, who had scored 76(44) including nine fours and three sixes, and got dismissed by Ramandeep Singh.

MI’s bowling attack was led by Ramandeep Singh, who took three wickets, and Daniel Sams, Riley Meredith, and Bumrah, who each took one wicket. SRH, on the other hand, used the Wankhede’s short boundaries to set MI a difficult mark of 194 despite losing 6 wickets in 20 overs.

In pursuit of the lofty total, the five-time champions MI got off to a flying start, with openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan hitting aggressively, leaving no space for the SRH bowlers. The duo put up a 95-run partnership for the first wicket.

While all this was going on, SRH made a strategy adjustment and brought in Washington Sundar, who was finding his way back from injury. He was able to get Rohit Sharma 48(36), who was just 2 runs short of reaching a half-century. In addition, just after skipper, Ishan Kishan 43 (34), gave up his wicket to the SRH quick, Umran Malik.

Once again, Umran Malik has shown that he is an incredible asset with his consistent bowling, as he has grabbed back-to-back wickets following Ishan, Tilak Varma 8 (9), and Daniel Sams 15 (11). It is important to note that MI is really suffering from the absence of their reliable performer Suryakumar Yadav. Notwithstanding this, Tim David appeared to be a powerful batsman in the middle order for the MI, who has aimed to win this match only for pride.

T Natarajan proved to be more expensive as he bowled the 18th over of the innings, surrendering 26 runs in the over, which Tim used to hit back-to-back four sixes. David’s quick-fire knock of 18 ball- 46 runs, including three fours and four sixes, brought the equation considerably closer. Meanwhile, Natarajan removed David with a run-out.

SRH’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered the crucial 19th over of the innings, changing the balance in MI’s favor SRH. He bowled a fantastic over in which he dismissed Sanjay Yadav for a golden duck and recorded the innings’ maiden over. Ramandeep Singh excelled with the bat, adding excitement to the drama with an unbeaten 6-ball 14-run.

Yet, MI’s efforts were fruitless, as SRH won by three runs, giving them just a narrow chance of making the playoffs. Umran Malik took three wickets for SRH, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Washington Sundar each took one wicket to clinch a convincing victory.
