Pitch Report

The Eden Gardens pitch is quite suitable for batters as the ball comes nicely on to the bat, and the batters find it easy to hit big shots. IPL 2022 Playoff Rules – Scenario of qualifier 1 between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals

According to the weather reports, there are high chances of rain tomorrow which might spoil the fun of qualifier 1. Although Eden Gardens has one of best drainage systems and when the rain stops, we can see the action right after 30 minutes.

However, BCCI has already build a plan if the weather interrupts the match.

As per the report by Espncricinfo, “The number of overs in the playoff match may, if necessary, be reduced so that each side has the opportunity to bat for five overs,” the guidelines said.

“For the Eliminator and each Qualifier playoff matches (where there is no reserve day), in the event that it is not possible to schedule a five-over match to complete by the end of the extra time on the original day, the teams will, if conditions permit, play a Super Over to determine the winner of the relevant Eliminator or Qualifier match,” the guidelines added.

In any case if the Super Over is also not possible, “the team that finished highest in the league table after the 70 matches of the regular season shall be declared the winner of the relevant playoff match or final”.
