IPL 2021: Andre Russell Reacts To Shah Rukh Khan’s Post-match Tweet

The win was for the Kolkata Knight Riders for the taking. Andre Russell’s fifer halted the Mumbai Indians for a modest score of 152 runs. Nitish Rana’s half-century made way for KKR’s easy run-chase. However, MI’s most favourite victim succumbed to the pressure in the end as KKR lost their 22nd match against the Mumbai Paltans.

IPL 2021: SRK disappointed with KKR’s performance

KKR’s owner Shah Rukh Khan was utterly disappointed by his team’s performance. He penned down a tweet while criticising his team and also apologised to the fans. SRK tweeted: Disappointing performance. to say the least @KKRiders apologies to all the fans!

IPL 2021: Andre Russell backs SRK’s tweet

KKR’s all-rounder Andre Russell stepped up and took the responsibility for the mayhem they caused on the pitch. Andre Russell supported SRK’s tweet but also backed his team for the rest of the tournament.

“Yeah, I support that Tweet but at the end of the day the game of cricket… you are not sure until it’s over. I think we are still confident, we still played some good cricket and I am proud of the boys. You know, we are definitely disappointed but it’s not the end of the world, it’s only the second game and we are going to learn from it,” Russell said in the post-match press conference.

“I just think it’s a game of cricket. I have played hundreds of T20 games and I have seen games where teams cruise in on the driver’s seat and then suddenly lose a few wickets, and that’s what happened tonight. So, we definitely have to learn from this. We will look to make sure that who’s in, stays in and once we learn from all these mistakes we will definitely do better. I have trust and confidence in the boys,” he added.

IPL 2021: KKR vs MI Highlights

Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians yet again announced to the world their supremacy in the Indian Premier League. On Tuesday night, Mumbai Indians produced a memorable bowling performance against the Kolkata-based franchise to clinch the 2 points out of nowhere. Surya Kumar Yadav-inspired Mumbai Indians handed a facile target of 153 runs for KKR to chase. KKR started off in an orderly fashion with Nitish Rana (57) and Shubman Gill (33) taking charge with the bat.

KKR openers combined together for a 72-run stand. The target was looking easily achievable until Mumbai Indians decided to turn the wave to their side. Rohit Sharma’s brilliant captaincy and Jasprit Bumrah’s impenetrable bowling dented KKR’s run chase. Trent Boult got the better of two world-class batsmen Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik in the final over as MI went on to win the game by 10 runs marking their 22nd win against KKR in 28 outings.
