Former South Africa captain FAF Du Plessis expressed his desire to play in the talk about cricket league BBL and has added his name to the list of BBL 12 drafts lets look at the BBL draft nominees.
Du Plessis has become one of the world’s most attractive players since he took retirement from Test cricket in February 2021.
The power house of talent recently led the Royal Challengers Bangalore to 3rd in the 15th edition of Indian Premier League.
The opening batter has so far played a single Big Bash match in BBL 2012. He played for Melbourne Renegades under Aaron Finch.
Du Plessis has scored 7608 runs at an average of 31.18 across in 293-game T20 games, and remains one of the world’s most charged fielders and clever leaders.
Other Overseas Players
Apart from Du Plessis confirmation, FAF’s former teammate Rilee Rossouw, Namibia all-rounder David Wiese, and former South Africa bowler Marchant de Lange names also being confirmed.
The destructive batter Rilee Rossouw right now is proving his worth in the ongoing T20 Blast, in which he is currently the third leading run-scorer with 498 in 12 matches for Somerset.
These are quite a days for Rossouw as yesterday he was named in South Africa’s T20 squad who will face mighty England next month. This also marks his return to international side after a gap of six years.
Rossouw also has an impressive T20 career record with 6307 runs at an average of 31.22 in 248 matches.
Third in the list is former South African born player Marchant de Lange. The 31-year-old has also nominated for the draft, and is hoping to make his Big Bash debut soon. The fast bowler has played for South Africa in all three formats.
While the fourth in the list is Namibian T20 World Cup hero David Wiese. He had an impressive Pakistan Super League campaign with champions Lahore Qalandars earlier this year. He took nine wickets and also scored 168 runs at a strike rate of 184.61.
Each club will have an equal opportunity to select up to 3 foreigners across 4 rounds, and 4 salary bands. The salary bands are $340,000 for platinum, $175,000 for silver, and $100,000 for the bronze.
