England’s T20 World Cup Coaching Staff Includes Michael Hussey and David Saker

Michael Hussey and David Saker have been added to England’s men’s coaching staff for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. The squad now looks strong given Mr. Cricket has gotten is now a part of the very dynamic team.

Hussey, a former Australia international who now works as a batting coach for the Chennai Super Kings, and fellow Australian Saker, who was England’s Test bowling coach from 2010 to 2015, have been enlisted by Matthew Mott, England’s white-ball head coach, to add home-grown perspective to the squad’s preparations ahead of the tournament in Australia, which begins on October 16.

“Saker, England Men’s bowling coach from 2010 to 2015, will join the tourists in Pakistan for the seven-match tour preceding the World Cup,” the England and Wales Cricket Board stated in a statement (ECB). Saker has also coached the Australian men’s national team, as well as Sri Lanka and the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League.

Saker, a former Victoria fast bowler who played a vital role in England’s successful Ashes trip in 2010-11, will join the group in Pakistan ahead of the seven-match T20I series, which begins next week in Karachi. Meanwhile, Hussey will join the squad when it arrives in Australia in October, where England will play three Twenty20 Internationals against the host nation before their first World Cup match against Afghanistan on October 22.

England’s first tour to Pakistan since 2005 will be captained by Jos Buttler, while Moeen Ali is expected to lead the side in Karachi while Buttler recovers from a calf injury. Mott is now working with two assistants, Carl Hopkinson and Richard Dawson, and the pair will supplement the existing coaching structure.

England are also said to be close to naming a new national selector, following the decision to remove Ed Smith from the formal job he held until April 2021. Nick Knight and Steven Finn are among the leading candidates for the role, with Steve Harmison also rumoured to be interested.
