England Women Clean Sweep ODI Series Against South Africa

England Women vs South Africa Women 3rd ODI Match Summary:

As South Africa Women tour England for all format series, The host nation again showed their dominance as they clean swept over the visitors in the ODI series.

In the third and final match of the series, England scored a huge total of 371 runs. For them, Beaumont scored the maximum of 119 runs. In answer, even after attempts from Kapp and Tryon, who scored 62 and 70 respectively, South Africa got all out on 262, losing the match by a huge margin of 119 runs.

As England Women romped to a 3-0 whitewash of South Africa, Tammy Beaumont shone with a stunning century to put aside the sadness of not being selected for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. After posting their fifth-highest ODI total of 371 for 7, England won the third and final ODI in Leicester by 109 runs thanks to Beaumont’s 119 off 107 balls.

Emma Lamb, Heather Knight, and Sophia Dunkley all struck half-centuries, and South Africa was unable to stop the run-flow from their bats after ordering England to bat first on a pitch that encouraged batting. The top four put up significant scores while sharing strong partnerships.

Beaumont had a great inning, hitting 19 fours and a six. The main driving force, though, came from Danni Wyatt, who hit four fours and two sixes for a 14-ball 33. The additional runs that South Africa gave up—27 total, of which 15 were wides and 4 were no-balls—clearly shows their lack of discipline.

Despite a 61-run opening partnership, South Africa was unable to capitalize due to frequent wickets from Charlotte Dean, Emma Lamb, and Alice Davidson Richards, who each took three wickets. In the ninth over, they lost their first opener, Andrie Steyn, and shortly after, Laura Wolvaardt, another opener, fell after scoring a 51-ball 56.

With a 110-run partnership, Marizanne Kapp (62 off 54) and Chloe Tryon (70 off 57) provided resilience and maintained South Africa in the chase, but England continued chipping in with crucial wickets to ultimately restrict them to 262 in 45.4 overs.

As a result, England won the match by a whopping 119 runs margin. Tammy Beaumont was awarded Player of the Match award for her brilliant knock of 119 runs off 107 balls.

With the victory, England swept the ODIs and now leads the series 8-2. South Africa now has three T20Is left to tie the series. The teams will now meet next for T20I matches on July 21st.
