England Name Squads For ODIs and T20 Series: The England Cricket Board announced the limited-overs squad for the ODI and T20I series against South Africa.
The three-match ODI series between England and South Africa is scheduled to take place from July 19 to July 24. In addition, they will play a three-match T20I series from July 27 to July 31.
Prior to this, South Africa played a five-match T20I series in India and did remarkably well. Fans and analysts had anticipated that India would dominate and outperform their opponents as they were playing at home, but the Proteas team battled valiantly to defeat India in the first two games of the five-match T20I series.
Both teams have their sights set on the T20I world cup, and they will have a lot of work to do, especially England, which is currently dealing with injury issues and only selecting players who are 100 percent healthy and prepared to play.
Considering amazing performances in recent test games, Matthew Potts received a maiden call-up for England’s ODI team. While Adil Rashid also makes a return to both the ODI and T20I squads.
The trend to provide rest to star players has reached the door of the England Cricket Board.
This strategy has recently been used by the BCCI for the Indian players, with all-format players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah given rest for the South Africa series at home.
Now, the England Cricket Board by following this trend has given a sabbatical to Ben Stokes for the next South Africa series. He will also miss The Hundred competition.
