ENG vs NED: Jason Roy’s hundred helps England to clean sweep against Netherlands

ENG vs NED: England opener Jason Roy smashed his 10th one-day international hundred to help England beat the Netherlands by 3-0 on Wednesday.

The visitors chased down the target of 245 runs in just 30.1 overs to win the third and final ODI and complete a clean sweep against the hosts Netherlands.

Roy hit 15 boundaries in his unbeaten 101 off 86 deliveries, while the destructive batter Jos Buttler smashed seven fours and five sixes in his impressive knock of 86* in just 64 balls to hand their team a third consecutive victory in the series.

Earlier, the Netherlands faltered, going from 203-3 in the 40th over to 244 all out, a total that never seemed adequate against a potent England.

After amassing a world-record total of 498-4 in the first ODI before cruising to win in the second match by six wickets, the 50-over world champions once again highlighted the disparity in skill between the two teams.

The Netherlands were looking good at one stage when they were at 203 for 3 in 39.5 overs, but suddenly their batting order collapsed and the hosts only managed to add just 41 to give a 245 target to the visitors.

Max O’Dowd, Bas de Leede, and Scott Edwards, all scored half-centuries for the Netherlands but they failed to convert their strong start to a good total.

For England, the speedster David Willey took the most the number of wickets 4, Bryson Carse bagged 2, while David Payne, Liam Livingstone, and Adil Rashid took a wicket each.

Jason Roy and Phil Salt provided England a solid start by adding 85 runs for the first wicket in just 9.3 overs run before Salt and Dawid Malan were both bowled by Paul van Meekeren with the score at 85.

However, Roy achieved his century off just 86 balls, and Buttler, who scored 162 while remaining unbeaten in the first game of the series, put up a compelling performance by smashing five sixes and posted an unbeaten 86.
