Babar Azam Solidifies His Position At The Top in Latest ICC Rankings

In the Latest ICC Rankings, Pakistani captain Babar Azam has cemented his position atop the list of ODI hitters following his team’s tight victory against the Netherlands. On the other side, Mitchell Santner and Devon Conway of New Zealand advanced in the T20I rankings as a result of their victory over the Windies.

Pakistan survived a scare to claim a 16-run victory in the first game of the series against the Netherlands thanks to Babar Azam’s typically composed 74. The erratic batsman surpassed Hashim Amla’s long-standing record of 4473 runs by amassing 4516 runs in 88 innings to set a new mark for the most runs in 88 innings in ODI history.

With 891 rating points, the Pakistani captain is the top-ranked batter in one-day international cricket, far ahead of his countryman Imam-ul-Haq (800 points). His place as the top-ranked T20I player is also in jeopardy due to aggressive India’s Suryakumar Yadav, who has been in exceptional form lately.

Following a strong series against the Windies, Devon Conway of New Zealand is another player who made significant progress in the most recent rankings, moving up to seventh position. Mitchell Santner, another member of his side, has cause to be happy as well because he has risen to ninth place among bowlers in the T20I rankings.

Hazlewood, Mujeeb and Mustafizur Rise in the ODI Ranking of Bowlers

Speaking of bowlers, Josh Hazlewood is at the top of the list for bowlers in T20 international matches and has made some progress toward achieving the same position in one-day international matches by moving up to third place. The Afghan pacer Mujeeb Ur Rahman also advanced one spot to fourth after Pakistani pace wonder Shaheen Afridi fell two spots as a result of his absence from the series opener against the Netherlands. The Australian pacer wasn’t the only one to move up.

However, Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who moved up six spots to tenth place, had the highest improvement in the bowling rankings. In the just finished ODI series against Zimbabwe, the crafty spinner was at the top of his game, finishing as the series’ joint-leading wicket-taker.
