Babar Azam all set to join most consecutive ODI hundreds elite list

Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam is all set to join in elite list of players who scored most consecutive hundreds in ODIs when he walk in to bat on Friday.

Azam scripted history in the first ODI against West Indies on Wednesday when he smashed 103 runs to became the first ODI batter to knock three successive one-day International hundreds twice and helped his side win the game over visitors by 5 wickets.

That century was his third consecutive ton in the one-day International and he is now eyeing to hit one more century to join the most consecutive ODI hundreds elite list when he play against West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match series on Friday.

The current all-format captain of Pakistan Babar has scored 103 in the second ODI against Australia in Australia tour of Pakistan series in 2022, and in the third ODI of the same series he posted 115 runs. Pakistan won the series over mighty Australia side by 2-1.

Azam then recorded third consecutive century on Wednesday and now is all set to post fourth ton to join Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara, who holds the record of scoring four consecutive centuries.

The Sri Lankan legend Sangakkara, posted 105*, 117*, 104 and 124 in 2015 to create the record of scoring four consecutive hundreds in ODIs.

Apart from Sangakkara, the woman cricketer Amy Satterthwaite also recorded four consecutive hundreds in one day cricket. The all-rounder cricket of New Zealand achieved this feat in 2017.

Now, all eyes on Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam as he chases the record of most consecutive hundreds.

Notably, Pakistan has won the first game of the three-match series and now is hoping to win the series three-match series with a win when they face the West Indies in the second ODI on June 10 at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan.
