Sourav Ganguly Sidelined in BCCI Admin Elections

BCCI Admin Elections: Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of India, will soon step down as president of the BCCI. He is unlikely to lead the ICC. Secretary Jay Shah is likely to continue leading his charge of important roles as Secretary.

What happened?

It is obvious that Ganguly suffered the most losses on the day. BCCI members abandon Sourav on D-Day. With the exception of Ganguly and Jayesh George, most members of the previous administration have secured positions in the new administration, however, sources claim Ganguly did not attempt to hide his discontent.

As is customary, he did not suggest Roger Binny as the new president’s name. A member who was present at the BCCI office said. “He clearly appears angry, dissatisfied, and sad.” After the nomination process was completed, Ganguly was the last person to leave the BCCI office. He quickly entered his vehicle and rolled down the window.

How did it happen?

Although the official explanation is that there is no precedent for a president to serve two full terms. He informs in unofficial meetings before the nomination day that his performance had fallen short of expectations. Members frequently argue that he ambushes BCCI sponsors by endorsing competing businesses.

It was previously brought up at other meetings. All of this hasn’t exactly been to his advantage. N Srinivasan, who serves as a mentor to the present BCCI team, made a quick trip to Mumbai and arrived late on Monday night. He is rumored to have been one of the outspoken detractors of the outgoing BCCI president.

Others at loss

Jayesh, the departing joint secretary, was yet another victim of the day. Due to the inability of the officeholders to accommodate two people from the same zone, he was denied his position. There was no room for the Keralan now that Binny from Karnataka was president. Arun Singh Dhumal, the treasurer, was also unable to keep his job; instead, he will be the IPL chairman.

The day’s biggest surprise was the new treasurer, Ashish Shelar, who is a political powerhouse in Mumbai and Maharashtra and who appears to get along well with secretary Jay Shah.
