Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Rajat Patidar became the first uncapped player in the history of IPL to hit a century in playoffs.
During the eliminator game against Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Gardens, Patidar scored an unbeaten 122 off just 54 to help his team put a huge total of 207/4 in 20 overs.
Before Patidar, it was Manish Pandey who took the honour of hitting the highest runs in playoffs as an uncapped player. In the 7th edition of Indian Premiere League Pandey posted 94 runs against Punjab Kings.
However, with this century Patidar joined the group of players (Shaun Marsh (115), Manish Pandey (114), Paul Valthaty (120*), and Devdutt Padikkal (101*), who scored a century in IPL league stage as an uncapped players.
Preciously, there were four centuries have been recorded during the IPL playoffs matches that includes Shane Watson’s 117-run knock against SRH in 2018 finals. Wriddhiman Saha’s 115* against KKR in 2014 finals. Virender Sehwag’s innings of 122 versus CSK in Qualifier 2 in 2014. Murali Vijay’s 113 against DC in Qualifier 2 in 2013. And now Patidar’s 122 runs knock recorded as the fifth century in the list.
Talking about the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 14 runs and advanced to the qualifier 2 of the IPL 2022.
RCB has posted 207 runs on board in 20 overs and stopped the mighty LSG to just 193 to win the eliminator game.
The star of the match was none other than Rajat Patidar whose 122 off 54 helped RCB to put big total on board and he was awarded as player of the match for his sensational knock
