PCB gives permit to Pakistani Players to play in SA20 League

Good News for Pakistani players, good opportunity to earn money and make a name for themselves

SA20 League: The PCB’s decision to make its players accessible for the competition will allow the SA20 franchises to sign one more player in a wildcard round. The SA20 initially disqualified Pakistan’s players due to a conflict with a visit from the West Indies. The PCB contacted SA20 right away to see if it could come up with a way to bring at least some of its players into the competition, but that tour has since been postponed.

SA20 has responded by launching a round of wildcard picks, during which each side may sign an additional player from the list of qualified competitors, including the new Pakistani entry.

Clash Of T20 League

The Indian Premier League has undoubtedly altered the way cricket is played around the world, and that is not an incorrect statement. As a result, many countries have launched domestic T20 leagues to promote cricket in their countries.

The ILT20 (UAE), BBL (Australia), and BPL (Bangladesh) all begin at the same time as the SA20. This period is now known as “silly season” of T20 cricket. Additionally, the PCB’s own PSL is scheduled to begin a few days later in February.

The South Africa T20 league, which will be run by Cricket South Africa, is the newest addition to this list (CSA). With some of the biggest names in the sport, this league is prepared to begin the following season. It will operate on a franchise basis, choosing players from many nations, just like the other leagues.

PCB Rejected Previous Requests

As originally intended, the PCB will keep its players away from ILT20. However, it is still quite unlikely that any Pakistani players will take part in the ILT20 given the fact that fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain and wicketkeeper batter Azam Khan both had their no-objection certifications rejected earlier in the year.

SA20 Commissioner Smith’s Comments

Graeme Smith, commissioner of the SA20 league, in a recent interview, told that “We are introducing a wildcard pick, post the World Cup, we will allow teams to pick one other player. From a league perspective, we don’t get involved with the selection. The teams go to the market and pick.”

Reason for approving Permits

Why the PCB altered its mind is not sure. However, it is acknowledged that one of the causes is the postponing of the West Indies trip to Pakistan. The three T20I trips were slated to begin in January 2023. But it’s been shut off. It gives the athletes from both nations a spot on the schedule. This opens up for T20 leagues throughout the window of January to February.
