West Indies is touring Pakistan for a 3-match ODI series. Much opposed to the first match, the second ODI was a one-sided affair with Pakistan winning the match by a huge margin of 120 runs.

After winning the toss, Pakistan decided to bat first putting up a target of 276 runs in 50 overs. Chasing a good total, West Indies crumbled in front of Pak’s bowling lineup as they got all out scoring just 155. The victory helped Pakistan take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Mohammad Nawaz was awarded the player of the match award for his brilliant bowling performance with the ball where he took 4 wickets giving away just 19 runs in 10 overs.

With half-centuries from Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq, Pakistan had amassed a score of 275/8 in 50 overs. Babar Azam was dismissed for 77 runs off 93 deliveries, falling short of Kumar Sangakkara’s world record of four consecutive ODI hundreds. Imam-ul-Haq, on the other hand, amassed a run-a-ball score of 72. It was both batters’ sixth successive 50-plus score in ODIs. The pair had put up a 120-run stand, but the batting imploded when they fell, as they lost four wickets in quick succession. Shadab Khan tried to keep things together, but he, too, was knocked out for 22. West Indies’ Akeal Hosein grabbed three wickets, while Alzarri Joseph and Anderson Phillip each took two.

In the second innings, when West Indies were batting, Mohammad Nawaz was the hero with the ball. Nawaz concluded his ten overs with magnificent figures of 4/19. He first got Brandon King and then went on to dismiss Shamarh Brooks, Rovman Powell, and Nicholas Pooran in short succession, leaving the visitors reeling. Brooks, Mayers, and Pooran were the only batters for Indies who managed to score some runs in the middle. Shaheen Afridi dismissed Shai Hope in the opening over of the Windies’ pursuit of 276, but Kyle Mayers’ 25-ball 33 put the burden back on the bowlers. However, he was dismissed by Mohammad Wasim, and Brandon King was bowled for a duck by Nawaz in the next over. Shadab Khan and Mohammad Wasim took 2 wickets each to help the hosts seal the victory.

In the three-match series, Pakistan now leads by 2-0. The third match will be played on 12 June, Sunday in Multan.
