AUS Test Squad for IND Tour 2023: Todd Murphy, a budding star from Victoria, joins Ashton Agar and Mitchell Swepson as three potential spinning partners for Nathan Lyon after breaking into Australia’s Test team for the Tour of India, starting from 9th February and will go on till March 22nd.

Swepson, the lone frontline wrist-spinner in the touring squad, offers diversity. While the addition of Agar and Murphy reaffirms the preference of Australia in India for finger spin.

Despite being included in the team, Australia’s top paceman Mitchell Starc is anticipated to miss the first game of the series. As he continues to recover from the left index finger injury.

Which also prevented him from playing in the third Test of the recently concluded series against South Africa in Sydney. All-rounder Cameron Green’s participation in the opening Test. This is also in question mark because he is also recovering from a broken finger.

AUS Test Squad for IND Tour 2023:

Pat Cummins (C), Steve Smith (VC), David Warner, Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Marnus Labuschagne, Lance Morris, Travis Head, Todd Murphy, Matthew Renshaw, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson.

Todd Murphy’s Recent Stats

With 14 wickets at an average of 17.71 in just three matches. The 22-year-old spin bowler has the lowest average of any in the Marsh Sheffield Shield season to date. He also showed his match-winning prowess by helping Victoria defeat NSW on the final day of the match before the KFC BBL break.

Other Key Players for the India Tour

In addition to Matthew Renshaw, Peter Handscomb, the captain of Victoria, is in a position to be called up for a Test match for the first time since January 2019.

The Australian team left out opener Marcus Harris. Who travelled with the team over the summer before being released to the Melbourne Renegades for the New Year’s Test after Renshaw was brought up.

Which Stadiums will host the four test matches of the series

The Four match Test series will kick off at Nagpur. The action will then travel to Delhi for the second Test. Then, the third game will take place at Dharamsala before the final Test between the two sides. Which takes place in Ahmedabad, Narendra Modi Stadium.
