With each passing day we are getting closer to the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and the guessing game of who should be in India’s best XI taking a whole new angle after every match or series.
As we saw in the recently completed Indian Premiere League many of young players have proved their mettle in the biggest cricket league in the world and some of them already received rewards for their hard works.
The young Umran Malik, who holds the ability to clock 150+ consistently was selected for the South Africa T20I series, along with him, Arshdeep Singh, who impressed everyone with his brilliant Yorkers and slower balls during the death overs in IPL, also got selected, and also opened their door for T20 World Cup selection.
However, the biggest turnaround in the team was when the veteran wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik once again made it to Indian team’s squad.
Karthik, who last played the international game nearly three years ago, selected in the team following his destructive run in the 15th edition of Indian Premiere League.
He has scored 330 runs in 16 matches he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore at an average of 55 and with a strike rate of 183.33.
In the ongoing series against South Africa, he has smashed 92 runs in 4 innings with a monstrous strike rate of 158.62. He played some crucial knocks while batting down the order specially his 55 runs knock off 27 balls to help his team reach 169 in 20 overs. He was later named as man of the match for his power packed performance.
With his back-to-back splendid performances everyone from cricket legends to fans are expressing their views to include him for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup squad.
The former Indian captain Kapil Dev feels that Karthik is a far ahead than even Rishabh Pant and the young Ishan Kishan due to his consistent performance while the other two are somehow struggling.
The list of Katthik’s praise is too long to be discussed, and the fans only want to play the same destructive cricket to be selected for the World Cup 2022 and provide India a much-needed depth in the batting order.
India will start their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
