IPL 2023 Auction: The BCCI has set December 15 as the final day for players to register with the IPL 2023 mini-auction scheduled for December 23. Even though certain franchises won’t be able to bid because of financial restrictions, Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, and Cameron Green will be the main draw. Along with the English pair, Joe Root, a former England Test captain, has also signed up for the auction and is looking for a suitor.
However, franchises’ requests to move the auction date are currently being considered by BCCI. Franchises want the BCCI to move forward the auction date since December 23 is so near to Christmas. But that won’t be decided in full until the following week.
BCCI Announces Last Date for Player Registration For IPL 2023 Auction
In a statement, BCCI official said, “December 15 is player registration deadline. We expect some top players to enroll. As for the auction date, December 23 is the set date for now. We are discussing some franchises’ requests to advance the date. But there are other factors involved. Only after deliberation with all stakeholders, we will come to a decision,”
Franchises Want IPL 2023 Auction Dates to Change
Franchises worry that many of their international staff members won’t be accessible because December 23 comes during the Christian holiday season. There are international coaching staffs in every organization. Some of them will be away on vacation because the auction day falls during the holiday season. Franchises want the auction day to be moved up for this reason.
The fact that seven out of 10 clubs have foreign head coaches is the key argument made by franchisees to reschedule the auction. The franchises will have a difficult time preparing for the forthcoming tournament without their head coaches. The clubs have kept a total of 163 players, and up to 85 individuals have been dismissed from their respective squads, it should be mentioned.
IPL 2023 Auction Details
As of this moment, Kochi’s auction day is December 23. There will be 250 players put up for auction. Players must register for the auction by December 15 at 5 PM before that.
The IPL Mega auctions took place earlier in February over the course of two days. The mini-auction, however, will last just one day. Prior to the next IPL season the majority of clubs would prefer to fine-tune their core rosters.
There won’t be many famous names because the major auction was only a season ago and is already done. Franchises do, however, tend to spend more at the mini auctions. There may be a bidding war because Ben Stokes, Cameron Green, and Sam Curran are the three prominent names in the auction pool.
