India’s Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar says “There should be global pressure on Pakistan”

External Affairs Minister reveals strong message regarding India vs Pakistan fixtures

India-Pakistan Cricket: S. Jaishankar, India’s minister of external affairs, has sent a clear warning that international terrorism will never become acceptable. At an event conducted on Friday in the national capital, Jaishankar responded to a question about the government’s stance on the cricketing relations between India and Pakistan.

Jaishankar’s Comments on India-Pakistan Cricket

Jaishankar in the latest event stated that “You know our stand on cricket. We should never accept that a country has the right to sponsor terror. Unless we don’t delegitimize this, it will continue. So, there should be global pressure on Pakistan. The pressure won’t come unless the victims of terror don’t voice themselves. India should, in a way, lead the way because our blood is spilt.”

“Tournaments keep coming and you are aware of the government’s stand. Let’s see what happens,”

S Jaishankar’s thoughts on the future of India vs Pakistan fixtures

The minister responded, “Will you talk to me if I placed a gun on your head?” in response to a question regarding the restoration of relations between India and Pakistan.

Foreign Minister Jaishankar was quoted saying “If your neighbour openly supports terrorism and it is clear who the leaders and locations of the camps are, this is a problem. Never should we accept cross-border terrorism as the norm. Give me another illustration of a neighbour supporting terrorism against a neighbour. Such an instance doesn’t exist. In a sense, this is remarkable rather than unusual.”

From where did all these Start?

Ramiz Raja, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), stated earlier this month that Pakistan may think about boycotting the Asia Cup 2023 if their hosting rights are revoked as a result of the Indian team’s refusal to visit them.

Previously, in October, BCCI secretary Jay Shah flatly denied rumours that Team India will travel to Pakistan for the competition and insisted that the Asia Cup would take place at a neutral location. These two teams last competed in a bilateral series back in 2012.

What’s up for grabs for the Future

The Indian government and BCCI are clearly on the same page, as shown by all of these remarks. Consequently, it is quite doubtful that they will send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan to compete in the Asia Cup in 2023.
