IND vs NED Match Highlights: India Thrash Netherlands by 56 runs

IND vs NED Match Highlights: Team India continued their winning run in the marquee event by defeating the Netherlands side by 56 runs in the 23rd match of the ICC T20 World Cup in Sydney on Thursday.

Opted to bat, India posted 179 on board, courtesy of some brilliant batting display by Indian batters, and then bowlers maintained the momentum by restricting the Dutch for just 123 for 9.

Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav starred with the bat for top-ranked in the world by adding 95 runs in 48 balls for the fourth wicket to help India put 179 in 20 overs. Both Kohli and Suryakumar recorded quick half-centuries in the process. Earlier, the skipper Rohit Sharma also played a knock of 53 in 39 to set the tone for a big total.

IND vs NED Match Highlights

India started their campaign on an expected note with 7 on board in the first over. Things were going modest for the side, and then the men in blue lost their first wicket in very early in the form of KL Rahul for just 9.

After an early dismissal, both batters began the campaign ahead with a steady approach and put 32 on board in powerplay overs. The skipper then shifted his gears as he tried to hit the shot every corner of the stadium, courtesy of that intent the men in blue managed to add 35 more in the next four overs.

India were going for a good total and then Fred Klaasen provided a bit shock as he removed Indian skipper for 53.

The men in blue were not at all worry though, as they already have a well-set Kohli there and joined him at the crease was India’s top-ranked batter in T20Is, Suryakumar Yadav.

Both added 44 in 24 deliveries from 12 to 16. Then both once again changed their gears and collected 51 in the final four over to guide India reach the 179-run mark in 20 overs.

Kohli, as usual was brilliant with the bat and again walked back to pavilion with a not out tag. He scored 62 in 44 with the help of three fours and two sixes. While Suryakumar Yadav, as expected was smashing balls all over the park. He struck a six on the final ball of the innings to complete his fifty in just 25 deliveries.

Netherlands To Chase 180 in 20 Overs

India’s most experienced bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar started the proceedings for India and bowled a maiden first-over. Max O’Dowd, however, opened his arms against Arshdeep and shot 2 fours in an 11-run second over.

Bhuvi, returned again with his magical fingers and bowled the dangerous Vikramjit Singh for 1 to provide India their first breakthrough, and it was a maiden too. Rohit then brought in Mohammad Shami and Axar Patel in attack.

Patel in no time, did his job by removing in-form Max O’Dowd to put the Dutch side on back foot. Some overs later, he removed a bit steady Bas de Leede, as a result The Dutch didn’t even crossed 60-run mark at the halfway stage of their innings.

Another Indian spinner, experienced Ashwin this time, provided his team a breakthrough in the 13th over by dismissing Colin Ackermann, and in the same over he removed another Dutch batter to strengthen India’s chances.

Shami then joined the party and removed the young Tim Pringle for 20.

With just 87 on board in 16 overs, the Dutch required to score another 93 in the final four, the road was looking impossible to complete on time for them, and Rohit Sharma brought Bhuvneshwar back on track.

Kumar did what he is known for. The swing magician dismissed another batter this time with a slower ball. Arshdeep bagged two wickets in his third over, and that was two-in-two, he started the final over of the match with a hat-trick chance, which he missed.

The Netherlands played their full 20-over quota and recorded 123 for 9, but lost the match by 56 runs.
