IND vs ENG T20 Semifinal: What we saw in the 2nd Semifinals in India versus England was insane domination by the English team. The team was completely outplayed by English batters. There were so many mistakes that India made in the match that cost them a seat in the T20 World Cup 2022 Finals.
Let’s take a look at what went wrong with India in the 2nd Semifinals
IND vs ENG T20 Semifinal: What went wrong?
India did manage to score a respectable total of 168 for 6 against England in their semi-final at Adelaide Oval, but a significant part of it was due to Hardik Pandya’s 33-ball 63. They had only managed to score 62 for 2 at the midway point.
India used a very deliberate yet conservative approach in the first half. Adelaide has small square boundaries, which were especially evident at the conclusion of the innings when four simple catches on the leg and offside were made.
Slow Batting by India
KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, the team’s openers, scored a run every ball of 5 and a 28-ball 27 respectively, and Virat Kohli needed 40 balls to get 50. Suryakumar Yadav, India’s batsman of the moment, faltered and was out after ten balls for 14. In the 83 balls, they faced, they each hit 10 fours and two sixes.
India may look back on this game and realize they missed a trick due to the quantity of dot balls they used and the lack of boundaries they attained. They only scored in the last five overs which was a big mistake to make.

India Lacked Strategy
None of the England bowlers were specifically targeted by India. They were counting on having a wet sail when they returned, which they did. But when it comes to strategizing. You look at your rivals, at the many areas where they are vulnerable, and at the different matchups, and you decide that this or that batter may target this bowler or that bowler. I thought they lingered in the game too long. They didn’t pick a certain person to pressure England.
Rohit in Shackles
Rohit appears to be one of those players at the top of the order in this event who has had difficulty establishing a consistent rhythm and timing in their play. We’ve seen that with Kane Williamson, Aaron Finch, and Babar Azam. They are good musicians, but they simply can’t seem to get into a groove.
Right now, it is gone for Rohit Sharma. He almost appeared to be breaking his chains and pushing through a number of barriers, but it didn’t work out that way for him.
No Pressure on England
Only until the final five overs did England feel pressure. Otherwise, they may pass right through their bowlers without any serious exposure. Therefore, from the captain’s perspective, everything appeared to be a little bit too simple for the fielding side.
