IND A Vs NZ A ODI Series: Rishi Dhawan has replaced Navdeep Saini in the India A squad for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand A, scheduled to start on Thursday (September 22).
Pacer Navdeep Saini, who sustained injury on Day 1 of the North Zone vs. South Zone Duleep Trophy 2022 semifinal game taking place in Salem, will miss the entire one-day series between India A and New Zealand A.
In a statement released on Sunday, the BCCI confirmed the development and stated that Saini will now travel to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for rehabilitation.
“He (Saini) is ruled out of the ongoing tournament and also from the upcoming three-match one-day series between India A and New Zealand A. Saini will now head to the NCA for further management of his injury,” the statement read.
Saini bowled 11.2 overs for North Zone and claimed one wicket for 58 runs before leaving the field due to an injury. He did score four runs when batting in their first inning but didn’t bowl in the second.
Prior to the Duleep Trophy, Saini competed for Kent in the English county competition, taking 11 wickets in two first-class games. After that, he played five games for them in the Royal One-Day Cup and claimed five wickets.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Rishi Dhawan as Saini’s replacement in India A squad,” BCCI added in a release.
