ICC Women’s T20I Rankings: Australia’s monopoly at the top of the ICC Women’s Player Rankings for T20I batters is under threat. Smriti Mandhana now moved to the number 2 spot. The update was announced by the ICC on Tuesday. She displaced Australia’s Meg Lanning.
The top two slots on the rankings were held by the seasoned Australian pair. India’s Smriti Mandhana, who has recently announced the ICC 100% Cricket Superstar, parted the pair following her outstanding recent series against England.
Smriti has 731 points. She is 12 points behind Mooney. The Indian batting sensation had a successful tour of England, scoring an unbeaten 79 runs. She also had two fifty-scores during the Commonwealth Games in England.
Mandhana is enjoying her time with the national squad. On Sunday, she scored 91 runs before being bowled out in the first ODI against England. Mandhana’s climb causes Lanning (725) to drop to third. New Zealand competitor Sophie Devine (715) also slides a spot. Mooney continues to be at the top of the list.
India has seen a boost in the ODI rankings following their victory over England. Thanks in large part to half-centuries. Yastika Bhatia upped eight ranks to 37th while Harmanpreet Kaur (up four spaces to ninth).
Kate Cross, the England pacer who took two wickets in that same match climbs three spaces to rank 10th overall among ODI bowlers. While teammate Charlotte Dean advances four spots to rank 20th.
