Harmanpreet Kaur overtakes Mithali Raj:

Indian women’s team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur reached another milestone on Saturday when she overtook the former skipper Mithali Raj to become the leading run-scorer in T20Is for India.

Harmanpreet accomplished this during the second T20I match against Sri Lanka, where she finished the game with a perfect 31.

The current captain of India has scored 2,372 runs at an average of 27 in 123 games. She has one century and six half-centuries to her credit. 16 days after Mithali’s retirement, she broke the record.

In 89 T20Is, Mithali Raj amassed 2,364 runs at an average of 38, including 17 half-centuries.

At the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on Saturday, India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur produced an outstanding game of cricket to enable India defeat Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in the second T20 to win the series.

Indian women’s cricket team defeated the hosts thanks to the captain’s contributions with both bat and ball.

Sri Lanka after starting their campaign on a good note lost the momentum in between and scored just 125.

India lost their first two wickets at 48 while chasing the 126-run mark. After that, the vice-captain and captain worked together for 38 runs in just 32 balls to enable India reach 85 runs in 11 overs.

After scoring 39, Mandhana returned to the pavilion. While Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain, took full responsibility for her team’s performance and handled it professionally by playing a steady knock of unbroken 31 to assist her team win the game and the series.

With the win in second match, India clinched the 3-match series 2-0.

Smriti Mandhana creates record 

Vice-captain Mandhana made history by becoming the second-fastest Indian woman to amass 2,000 T20 runs during the match. Mandhana passed legendary Mithali Raj (70 innings). And the current captain Harmanpreet Kaur (88 innings) to become the third Indian woman to accomplish the feat in her 84th innings.
