AUS vs SA 2nd Test Day 1 update: Australia started from where they left in the first test, as the no.1 test side in the world bowled out South Africa for 189 in the first innings of the second test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Monday. Starc, Cummins and Lyon combined took 3 wickets, and Green took 5 wickets alone.

The focus of Australia’s response was always going to be on David Warner. And the opener who was playing his historic 100th Test, didn’t let us down. He played with panache to stay unbeaten at 32 and lead his team to a final score of 45-1.

Usman Khawaja, one of a quartet of South African pacemen who underperformed horribly with the new ball, edged Kagiso Rabada indolently for the lone wicket.

After bowling out the opposition for 152, Australia posted 218 on board in their first innings.

Australia’s skipper Pat Cummins then starred with a five-wicket haul on the second day of play at The Gabba. As a result, Australia cruise to a convincing 6-wicket victory over South Africa in the series opener.

Australia, who is currently top of the ICC Test Championship standings, won the test match and kept their advantage, taking a 1-0 series lead in the process.
