AUS VS ENG: The third and final T20I between England and Australia was called off due to rain. The game was reduced to 12 overs before being finally called off during Australia’s innings. The English team wins the series 2-0. Jos Buttler wins the Player of the Series award for hitting 150 runs.
What Happened in the Match
An inconsistent inning prevented England from gaining any meaningful momentum. They had zero assistance from the two weather delays, but they did score 39 runs off the final 14 balls to give themselves a large margin.
While Jos Buttler shone and scored an unbeaten 65 off just 41 balls, Alex Hales was out for a duck. Ben Stokes and Dawid Malan both had brief appearances on each side of the interval, and the visitors will feel they have had enough. Australia’s batting lineup has sufficient of power and can play without much worry despite David Warner’s rest.
In the Australia innings, there was hardly any fight. The hosts lost 3 wickets in 30 runs. The team lost batters quickly. The team probably just missed the whitewash. If even 7 balls were played, we would have seen result for the game.
Series Analyses
The contest was abandoned. There was never going to be able to a result with three fairly large rain interruptions. Both sides will now feel conflicted as they prepare for the World Cup. Given that they were in a wonderful position to seal a 3-0 whitewash. England will be feeling great and could be a little dissatisfied. Australia, on the other hand, may use a few small adjustments, but they are the defending champs and playing at home, so that should help.
Additionally, this was the final T20I match before to the major competition, and attention is now focused on the T20 World Cup in 2022. While the already seeded teams continue their preparations with a few more practise matches, the qualifiers get underway on the 16th.
What Captains Said
Jos Buttler the Player of the Series said. “We had a good series in Pakistan, to come and continue that over here is a good fielding. We just had 2 and a bit overs to play, so just came out and gave everything we had with the bat. The conditions were challenging and I thought we were pretty good across every department. Woakes was unbelievable in his first spell tonight, got the ball to swing and that’s good news for us.”
Aaron Finch, the losing captain talked about what team learnt from the series. He says. “It was, there was quite a bit of rain yesterday and today as well, and we would have been happier with a full game. Credit to England, they outplayed us in all the three games, but I thought the fielding was better on a slightly greasy surface tonight. We will take a couple of days off, recharge, enjoy each other’s company and start our preparations for the World Cup.”
