Ambati Rayudu left all stunned on Saturday afternoon with his massive announcement about his retirement from IPL.
His tweet came at 12:46 pm, but he deleted that tweet in an hour which created a big confusion about his decision of not to play another season of IPL after the ongoing IPL 2022.
The Chennai Super Kings star batter took to his Twitter account and wrote, “I am happy to announce that this will be my last IPL. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years. Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and CSK for the wonderful journey.”
However, after one hour he deleted his tweet, and to clear the air Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan assured us that Ambati Rayudu is “not retiring.”
“He was a bit disappointed that he was not doing well. So, he mistakenly put out that tweet. I have explained things to him. He is not retiring. He will be with us.” – CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told NDTV.

Rayudu played for the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. From 2010 to 2017, he was a member of the Mumbai Indians.
He was picked by CSK in 2018, but was not retained by CSK for 2022 season. Later he was signed for INR 6.75 crore by CSK in the IPL 2022 mega auction, but he has failed to perform as per his caliber this season. In the 12 games he played for CSK in this season so far, he has scored 271 runs at an average of 27.10
Chennai Super Kings are already out of playoff picture after losing to Mumbai Indians in their previous match. CSK team are currently at ninth place with four wins and 8 losses.
This isn’t the first time Rayudu has made an outlandish retirement announcement. Earlier, he announced his retirement after not being selected for the 2019 ODI World Cup, but later reversed his decision and returned to play in the IPL.
Rayudu is one of the top run scorers in the IPL, with 4187 runs in 187 games, including a century and 22 half centuries.
