Pink Ball, Big Threat: Australia’s edge in day-night Tests

Australia’s record in pink-ball tests

Australia track record in pink-ball tests is nothing short of excellence, boosting a strong dominant streak since its introduction in 2015. So let’s take a look at Australia’s record in pink-ball tests.

The mighty Aussies have played 12 day-night test matches so far, winning 11 and losing only one. This record is enough to shake opponent legs, except India, the current table toppers in WTC standings, who will start the game with confidence after winning the first test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

The Pink-ball test between India and Australia will be the second match of the 5-match series. India currently leading the series 1-0 after securing a big win by 295 runs in the series opener.

Despite India’s solid run, they need to be aware of Australia’s strength in the Pink-ball test, specially at Adelaide where were defeated the previous time they met the Aussie in 2020.

India vs Australia day-night Test: What to expect?

Playing under lights with the pink ball, Australia thrives on conditions that amplify their potent pace attack, with the likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and the skipper Pat Cummins himself exploiting the ball’s swing and seam movement.

These factors and their home advantage at venues like Adelaide Oval, have made them a force to reckon in day-night Test matches.
