Indian spinners Ashwin and Jadeja Strangle Australian batsman and close first test match before day 3 lunch

IND vs AUS, 1st Test Highlights: In the opening match of the series, Australia won the toss and decided to bat first against India. However, their hitters had trouble on the fast Nagpur pitch and were dismissed for 177 runs in the first innings. India then responded forcefully, hitting 400/10 to take a 223-run lead. Australia absolutely lost control of the third-inning contest when the Indian spinners, who had already dominated the second innings, choked the Australians for 91/10 before the third-day lunch break.

India beat Australia by 132 runs with an inning to spare, this is a historic win for the Indians as they were brilliant in all aspects of the game and dominated the Australians with the ball, bat and fielding too.

IND vs AUS: Stars players of the Match with the Ball

If Jadeja was the star man in the first innings with the ball, where he racked up his bowling figures with a five-wicket haul and in the second innings it was Ashwin who took the job into his hands and thus claimed the 31st five-wicket haul of his test career and equals the record for most five-wicket hauls record for India with Anil Kumble.

Ashwin also surpasses Harbhajan Singh and becomes the second leading wicket-taker for India in Border Gavaskar Trophy. Ashwin finished his second innings bowling figures with 5-37 in 12 overs.

IND vs AUS: Standout, Brave Performance from Indian Batters Rohit, Axar, & Jadeja

Rohit was key in building momentum for the Indian side as he recorded his 9th test match century and first century as a captain in a test match. His knock gave India the much-needed start. But eventually, Rohit was dismissed for 120 runs in 212 balls by Australian skipper Pat Cummins.

Axar and Jadeja, however, came when India was struggling with the fall of wickets and somehow with their bravery they pulled India out of trouble and gave India a much need 223-run lead. Axar finished his batting with 84 runs from 174 balls. While Jadeja finished his batting with 70 runs from 185 balls.

IND vs AUS: Australia Struggling with the Bat

Australia where never really in this game, all their batsman struggled against the Indian spinners. No one really kept going in the second inning as they crumbled for 91 and gave the match away to India. Only four players scored two-digit runs for Ausis in the second Innings.

IND vs AUS: Ausis’ only takeaway from this match

Todd Murphy was the only player’s performed from the Australian team, as he picked up his first five-wicket haul in the first innings. He was playing his debut test match and he grabbed a dream five-wicket haul. Other than Todd’s performance no one else really stood up for the team and lead the attack from attack.

Now Australia needs to understand what they did wrong in Nagpur and try to work on it and come back strong in the second test match.

IND vs AUS, 1st Test: Player of the Match

Ravindra Jadeja received the player of the match award for his incredible 5-wicket haul in the first innings and for also scoring 70 runs to boost India’s lead. It’s an amazing comeback for Jadeja from a knee injury, let’s hope to see more such spells and amazing batting.
