Asif Ali Biography: Asif Ali was born in Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan on 1 October 1991. Asif Ali is a Pakistani right-hand batter who has been a part of the Pakistan squad for the past 3 years. However, his presence on the team is not consistent due to his average performance. Asif Ali is also an effective right-arm spin option for the captain. Asif Ali has been a consistent member of the Pakistan squad since the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2021 in the limited overs format. Recently, he is also included in the squad for the Asia Cup in UAE. Asif Ali plays for Northern in the domestic circuit of Pakistan.

Asif Ali started off playing cricket at the age of around 6 years. Asif used to play with the friends in his early days. He also played Kabbadi in his early days and developed the skills in the sport. However, due to the financial problems in the family, Ali left playing sports and worked as a part-time labourer. During the extra time, he kept practicing for cricket. Eventually, he got a breakthrough in his career when he got opportunity to represent his domestic team in the match.

Asif Ali started off playing domestic cricket for the Faisalabad team when he was looked by former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq as the power-hitter in the squad. Asif was included in the Super 8 T20 cup back in 2011 and Asif didn’t let this chance go away. He scored 287 runs in 8 matches and impressed the selectors.

For many years, Asif Ali played in the domestic circuit. However, he didn’t get many chances.

In 2017, Asif Ali ended up as the highest run scorer in the Quaid-e-Azam tournament and smashed 369 runs in just 6 matches.

Asif Ali maintained his form in 2018 Pakistan Cup as well and scored 328 runs in just 4 matches and ended up as the highest run-scorer.

Asif Ali was also picked up by the Cape town Blitz team in the Mzansi Super League for the inaugural edition back in 2018.

In 2019, Asif Ali was included in the Northern squad for the Quaid-e-Azam tournament and in the team of Sindh for the Pakistan Cup.

In 2020, Asif Ali was roped in by Jamaica Tallawahs for the Caribbean Premier League and then by Jaffna Stallions in the Lanka Premier League’s inaugural edition.
