Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid tests covid negative will join team soon

Former Indian captain and current head coach of team India tested positive for Covid-19 on August 23rd and was not allowed to travel to UAE with the squad. The head coach was less likely to be part of the first match of the tournament where India will face arch-rivals Pakistan.

It was a big blow for team India when the news popped out saying Dravid was tested positive and won’t be able to travel to UAE, even the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) announced that VVS Laxman would be the interim coach till David recovers from the virus.

Now, team India has a big boost as the head Coach is recovered from the virus and will return to UAE, where he will join the squad and will be on the sidelines for the important match against Pakistan.

There was less possibility that Dravid would be available for the India-Pakistan match but the odds went wrong and now the head coach will be back in action with men in blue.

VVS Laxman who was named as the interim coach has been instructed to go back to India as Rahul Dravid is back and will be ready to guide the men in blue to the first victory of the campaign.

In a statement released by the Board of Cricket Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) it said that “VVS Laxman has linked up with the squad in Dubai along with vice-captain Mr. KL Rahul, Mr. Deepak Hooda and Mr. Avesh Khan, who traveled from Harare,”

“Mr. Laxman, who traveled with the Indian team that played the ODI series in Zimbabwe will oversee the team’s preparation in the absence of Mr. Rahul Dravid, who tested positive for COVID-19 before the team’s departure to the UAE. Mr. Dravid will join the team once he tests negative and is cleared by the BCCI Medical Team.”
