After losing four wickets, it was the Sri Lankan skipper, Danuka Shanaka, and the hitter, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who completed the match by striking at the Indian bowlers and slowly building a partnership of 64 runs off 34 balls.
During the post-match presentation, Rohit Sharma said the team is trying to identify the pros and cons of having three pacers and two spinners in the side. “We have played with three seamers and have moved to four seamers with Hardik coming back with him playing the fourth seamer. That’s the combination we wanted,” he said adding that his preparation would be for all the challenges going up to the World Cup.
Sri Lankan Captain Dasun Shanaka was given the Player of the Match award for his 33-run unbeaten cameo, apart from his two wickets contribution. “The bowler bowled well in patches. Credit to Dilshan, Theekshana and Chamika – they bowled well in this game. The Indians came hard at us but we managed to restrict them well under 180. We had a good discussion after the first game,” he said.
