After being invited to bat first, Royal Challengers Bengaluru set a challenging target of 167 runs, finishing their innings at 167/7 in the allotted 20 overs. Ellyse Perry stood out as the star performer, showcasing her batting prowess with a magnificent 81 runs off just 43 balls, effectively anchoring the innings. However, the middle-order batters Danielle Wyatt-Hodge (9) and Raghvi Bist (13) struggled to form meaningful partnerships around her, resulting in missed opportunities to accelerate the scoring.

The Mumbai bowling attack proved to be disciplined and relentless, applying pressure on the Royal Challengers’ batting lineup. Key figures like Smriti Mandhana, Kanika Ahuja, and Richa Ghosh, who managed to contribute 28 runs, were unable to find their rhythm and push the team towards a more formidable total.

Late attempts to salvage the innings by Georgia Wareham (6) and Kim Garth (8*) saw some fireworks yet ultimately fell short of torching a significant reversal due to the absence of solid partnerships throughout the innings.

On the bowling front for Mumbai, Amanjot Kaur emerged as the standout bowler, claiming 3 vital wickets that halted the Royal Challengers’ momentum. Shabnim Ismail and Hayley Matthews also played crucial supporting roles in dismantling the batting side.

Chasing a target of 168, Mumbai Indians faced early challenges as they lost key wickets in quick succession. Despite the pressure, the middle-order batters stepped up. Nat Sciver-Brunt delivered an essential innings, scoring 42 runs, before being dismissed by a fine delivery from Kim Garth. Mumbai’s innings suffered further setbacks with Hayley Matthews (15) and Yastika Bhatia (8) falling quickly, boosting the tension for the chasing side.

However, the ever-reliable Harmanpreet Kaur played a pivotal role, calming nerves with a composed innings of 50 runs off 38 balls. Kaur skillfully handled the innings. The late-game contributions from Amanjot Kaur, who scored an unbeaten 34 runs, alongside G Kamalini (11*), proved crucial as they navigated the final overs diligently.

Royal Challengers’ bowlers, including Garth, Ekta Bisht, and Wareham, displayed commendable effort throughout the match, fighting hard to defend the total. Despite the loss of wickets at regular intervals, Mumbai Indians maintained their chase’s momentum, ultimately crossing the finish line successfully in just 19.5 overs with a score of 170/6. With Kaur’s leadership and the team’s aggressive approach, they clinched a well-fought victory.
